Woman who was denied cigarettes chugs chocolate milk
A 27-year-old woman is facing charges after an incident in Chatham where she allegedly took a swing at a cashier and a few swigs of chocolate milk she didn't pay for.
Chatham-Kent police said the woman walked into a gas station on Richmond Street Tuesday afternoon and tried to buy some cigarettes, but she was denied because she couldn't provide any photo ID.
After that, the woman allegedly started yelling at the cashier and took a swing at the employee, but hit the plexiglass barrier instead.
Officers said the woman then went to the cooler area and drank two containers of chocolate milk without paying for them.
She was later arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and assault.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Equipment stolen from construction site
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a 2019 Bobcat MT85 mini-track loader and bucket that was stolen from a construction site on Moonstone Drive in Chatham.
It's believed the equipment was taken sometime between Sunday and Wednesday morning and is valued at approximately $35,000.

Man under weapons ban found with knife, stun gun
A 29-year-old Wallaceburg man who had previously been banned from carrying any weapons is facing charges after officers allegedly found a kukri knife, a stun gun, an expandable baton, and an airsoft pistol in his possession.
Chatham-Kent police said they made the discovery while they were responding to a domestic dispute call at a residence in Wallaceburg on Tuesday.
The accused was arrested, charged with three counts of failing to comply with his probation order, and later released with a future court date.

Vulnerable man assaulted by wife
Chatham-Kent police have arrested a local woman accused of assaulting her vulnerable husband.
Police said the woman also serves as her husband's caretaker.
Officers said they received information about the alleged assault on Monday and arrested the woman on Tuesday.
She was charged with assault with a weapon and later released with a future court date.

Text messages lead to arrest
A phone call and some text messages have landed a 35-year-old Blenheim man in more trouble with the law.
Police said the man allegedly called and texted a specific Chatham woman on Tuesday who he had previously been ordered not to contact.
Officers said that was one of the conditions of his probation when he was released from custody last year.
As a result, the accused was arrested, charged, and later released pending a future court date.

Man arrested after skipping DNA sample appointment
A Dresden man who was ordered to provide police with a sample of his DNA late last month is back in police custody after he missed his appointment.
Chatham-Kent police said the man was sentenced on July 29 and ordered to attend the courthouse the next day to provide a DNA sample for police.
Officers said he failed to show up for that appointment on July 30, though, so when police spotted him on Victoria Avenue in Chatham at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, they arrested him and took him into custody.
He was charged with failing to comply with a court order and was set to be held in custody pending a DNA sample being obtained.

No license, no plates, no insurance
A 38-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after a traffic stop in Chatham Tuesday morning.
Chatham-Kent police said an officer on general patrol pulled the man over after seeing him driving an unplated motorcycle on Victoria Avenue in Chatham.
He was later charged with driving a motor vehicle with no license, no license plates, and no insurance.

Charges laid after crashes
Two drivers are facing charges in connection with a pair of crashes that took place in Chatham-Kent on Tuesday.
Police said the first collision involved two vehicles on St. Clair Street in Chatham between Regency Drive and Pioneer Line.
No injuries were reported and the total damage was estimated at $10,000. A 67-year-old man was charged with making an unsafe lane change.
The second crash took place Tuesday evening on Kent Bridge Road between Talbot Trail and Eds Line.
Police said it was a single-vehicle collision. No one was hurt and the damage was estimated at $5,000.
A 19-year-old Blenheim woman was charged with careless driving.
