Police investigating suspicious food trailer fire
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone broke a window on a food trailer in Chatham and started a fire inside of it.
Police said that happened sometime between 2 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday while the trailer was parked on National Road in Chatham.
The fire reportedly caused about $15,000 in damage, burning a hole through the floor of the trailer and causing smoke damage inside.

DNA match leads police to break and enter suspect
A 24-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with break and enter after some DNA evidence that police collected at the scene of a break-in in Chatham almost six years ago hit a match.
Police said the break-in took place on Raleigh Street in Chatham on July 3, 2015, adding that officers were able to collect some evidence for forensic analysis.
That evidence was sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences, where it hit a match on February 9, 2021.
As a result, police arrested the suspect Wednesday morning. He was charged and later released pending a future court date.

Youth allegedly caught hanging out with the wrong crowd
A 17-year-old youth from West Lorne is in more trouble with the law after he was allegedly caught hanging out with a specific Wallaceburg teen he had been ordered to stay away from.
Police said the non-communication order was one of several conditions that were imposed on the youth when he was released from custody on October 5, 2020.
Officers said the pair were seen together in Dresden last week and the youth was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
He was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and released pending a future court date.

Traffic blitz turns up more than two dozen violations
Chatham-Kent police handed out 28 more tickets to drivers during a traffic blitz in the Chatham area on Wednesday.
Police said they were issued for "various Highway Traffic Act related offences."
