Two Chatham shooting suspects still at large

A youth accused of being involved in a shooting in Chatham remains behind bars as the search continues for two alleged accomplices.

The 17-year-old from Cambridge made a brief court appearance in Chatham via video on Friday. He was denied bail in February after being arrested in connection to a shooting on Harvey Street in Chatham on January 26. He is charged with three counts of attempted murder but can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He remains in custody at the Windsor jail, waiting for a new bail hearing. His new lawyerl is reviewing the Crown's disclosure, which was received just a couple days ago, and is formulating a new bail plan. The youth will be back before the Chatham court via video on March 23, 2021.

Two female suspects also charged with three counts of attempted murder each are out on bail. Rylie Dejonge-Vandusen, 19, of London and Brianna Gardiner, 18, of Cambridge will be back in court March 26 to deal with their charges.

The charges stem from an incident that saw three people shot at and a dog killed. Two of the people who were shot at suffered non-life threatening injuries and the third person who was shot at was not physically injured. Police said it was a targeted shooting.

Chatham-Kent police said on Friday they're still looking for Terry St. Hill, 19, and another 17-year-old male who also can’t be named because he’s a minor. Police believe both of them have ties to communities outside of Chatham-Kent and they are asking anyone who knows where they are to call 911 immediately. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

The bail hearings are under a publication ban, so much of the evidence and statements presented are not allowed to be made public.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
