The Middlesex London Health Unit reported 46 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday in the region and an additional death.
The latest death was a woman in her 80s who was not associated with a long-term care or retirement home.
Following the latest death, the death toll in the region is now at 186.
As of Saturday, the total number of cases in the London-area is sitting at 6,821 overall with 6,301 recoveries.
There were five more cases screened variant positive over the past 24 hours for a total of 92. Six cases have been confirmed as variants.
The health unit continues to monitor three outbreaks at local institutions. The latest outbreak was declared on Friday at Henley Place Longterm Care Residence. Outbreaks are also ongoing at Glendale Crossing and within the U4 - Medicine 1 area at University Hospital.
There are no outbreaks currently at high school or elementary schools in the region. However, outbreaks continue at three Western University residences - Essex Hall, Ontario Hall and Saugeen Hall.
Saturday's cases come one day after the health unit reported a daily case count not seen since mid-January. Fifty-four new cases were reported on Friday. The area has not had that many cases in a single day since January 21 when 63 infections were confirmed.
Across Ontario, provincial health officials logged 2,453 additional cases of the virus on Saturday. The total number of cases in the province is now at 340,692 with 315,865 recoveries and 7,308 deaths.
