Fifty-one new cases of COVID-19 were recorded by the Windsor-Essex Health Unit on Sunday morning.
According to the local health unit, 23 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, five are community-acquired, two are outbreak-related, and two are travel-related to the U.S. The remaining 19 cases are still under investigation.
The overall case count in Windsor-Essex is now at 16,373.
As of Sunday, there are 361 active cases, 197 of which are variants of concern cases. There are also 18 hospitalizations, up from 16 on Saturday.
There were 34 more recoveries reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of resolved cases up to 15,588.
The number of local outbreaks remained the same - 10 workplace outbreaks and one community outbreak.
Meanwhile, there were no new deaths reported on Sunday, with the death toll in the region remaining at 424.
There was also another significant jump in the number of vaccines administered over the past 24 hours.
As of Sunday, 206,345 residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine, up from 203,879 on Saturday.
Additionally, youth 12 years of age and older can now book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment in Windsor and Essex County at a mass vaccination clinic or a local pharmacy administering the Pfizer vaccine.
"Youth must be 12 years of age on the day of their appointment and it is strongly encouraged that those under 16 years of age be accompanied by their custodial parent or guardian," the health unit said in a media release.

Across Ontario, provincial health officials reported 1,691 new cases on Sunday, 15 more deaths and 2,458 additional recoveries. As of Saturday night, the province had administered over 8 million doses of the vaccine.
