Man charged with impaired driving 

A Wallaceburg man has an impaired driving charge to answer for after police nabbed him allegedly driving under the influence near Dresden.

On Sunday evening, officers responded to the area of Croton Line and Dawn Mills Road in response to an erratic driver.

An officer located the vehicle parked on the side of the road on Croton Line.

According to the police, the truck was still running as the officer stopped and approached the driver.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol, so he was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

As a result, the 26-year-old was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was eventually released pending a future court date in August.

Woman allegedly steals over a dozen eyeliner pencils 

A woman has a future court date after a dozen eyeliner pencils were stolen from a Chatham business.

The police responded to a shoplifting complaint on Sunday afternoon at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street.

The woman is accused of stealing 15 eyeliner pencils. The total value of the theft is about $200.

The 27-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was also arrested on several outstanding warrants and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with careless driving 

A man from Sarnia will be without a car for a couple of days following an early morning collision in Chatham-Kent.

Around 5 a.m. Monday, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Merlin Road near Coutts Line.

The officers suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol, so they conducted a roadside breath test, and the man registered a reading over 0.05.

The 54-year-old was issued a three-day license suspension and charged with careless driving.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000 damage.

His vehicle was towed from the scene.
