Man arrested after a family dispute turns violent 

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after a family dispute in Blenheim took a violent turn.

Police said the man allegedly assaulted a family member in the home while uttering threats and damaging a telephone.

The 61-year-old victim was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance by ambulance for medical attention.

Chatham-Kent police said the man fled the home before arrival but was arrested later in the afternoon on Sunday.

As a result, the man has been charged with aggravated assault, mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman caught driving with stolen licence plates

A 24-year-old Chatham woman has been arrested after driving a car with stolen licence plates.

Police said the woman was travelling on Grand Avenue West when an officer observed the license plates were previously reported stolen.

A traffic stop was initiated on Sarah Crescent and the stolen plates were seized from the vehicle.

The woman who was arrested was charged with possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released with a future court date on August 17, 2021.

Police looking for stolen black Mitsubishi Lancer

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a black 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer that was reportedly stolen from a residence on Forest Street sometime over the weekend.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BTBH 771.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Curtis Conn at 519-436-6600 mailbox number, 87349.  Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Man charged with public intoxication 

A 58-year-old Chatham man has been charged after being found drunk in a public place.

Police said the man, who was unable to care for himself, was arrested outside of a residence on Wellington Street East and taken to police headquarters.

The man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was released on Monday morning when he was sober.
