Chatham-Kent council to consider resident recognition program

Doing a good deed in the community could soon land you a gift card to a local business in Chatham-Kent.

A program that allows you to report your neighbour doing good deeds is set for discussion at Monday’s municipal meeting.

The Good Neighbour program gives residents a chance to nominate their neighbours so that they know their good deeds are recognized and appreciated in the community.

The program is designed for residents to nominate a person who makes their community a better place through an online community engagement tool, Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent.

The person who nominates the neighbour will receive a thank you card, a gift, along with the task of delivering it to their neighbour. The resident who is nominated will receive a certificate signed by the mayor and members of council from the respected ward.

According to the report, the gift will be a $25 gift card from a local business. The number of nominations for this year will be limited to 100.

"Chatham-Kent is full of caring residents, businesses and organizations whose acts of kindness, community volunteerism, and neighbourhood pride make a positive impact on their neighbourhood," the report read.
