Police seek robbery suspect
Police in Chatham-Kent are searching for a Wallaceburg robbery suspect.
Police said a woman (photo below) walked into a business on Dufferin Avenue around 6:40 p.m. on Monday and demanded money and lottery tickets from the clerk while in possession of a weapon. The employee did not comply with the woman’s demands and she walked away.

Chatham man accused of smashing glass door to local business
A 29-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges after he allegedly smashed the front door of a local business and then threatened an employee inside with a shard of glass.
Police said they were called to the scene at around 9 p.m. Monday, adding that their investigation showed the man had been asked to leave the business before he smashed the front doors by kicking them.
Officers said the man then picked up a jagged piece of glass and went back to the business and "approached an employee in a threatening manner while yelling obscenities."
Police said someone who happened to be in the area at the time stepped in and escorted the man outside until officers arrived.
The accused was charged with mischief, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was later released pending a future court date.

Man accused of using stolen bank cards to buy lottery tickets
A 28-year-old man probably isn't feeling too lucky after he was arrested for stealing someone's bank cards and then using them to buy lottery tickets.
Chatham-Kent police said they found the man while they were responding to a report of a suspicious person on Gladstone Avenue in Chatham at around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers said their investigation showed the man had gone into someone else's vehicle and took their personal identification and some bank cards and then used the debit card at various gas stations and convenience stores in the area.
Police said they were able to connect the man to the case by reviewing some video surveillance and they found him walking on St. Clair Street.
After he was arrested, police said they found the victim's identification and bank cards on him along with some lottery tickets that were allegedly purchased with the stolen debit card.
He was charged with theft, possession of stolen property, fraud, and failing to comply with his release conditions. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Two pickup trucks stolen in Thamesville
Chatham-Kent police are working to track down two pickup trucks that were both reported stolen in Thamesville overnight.
Police said the first truck, a red 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, was taken from a residence on Wallace Street and was last seen with Ontario license plates AB25 838.

Chatham man accused of driving high
A 64-year-old man is facing impaired driving and drug possession charges after Chatham-Kent OPP pulled him over late Monday night.
Police said an officer pulled the vehicle over after seeing it heading eastbound on Grand Avenue east in Chatham at around 11:10 p.m. Monday.
The officer stopped the vehicle to check on the condition of the driver and reported that after speaking with him, it was "apparent the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance and was displaying signs of impairment."
The driver was taken back to the OPP detachment where he was evaluated by a drug recognition expert before he was charged.
Police said they also allegedly found some methamphetamine during their investigation.
A 64-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving, drug possession, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
He was later released from custody with a future court date.
