CKHA welcomes trio of new doctors

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is welcoming three new physicians to its team.

Dr. Matthew Renaud joins CKHA as an emergency medicine physician, Dr. Yasser Soliman joins the Paediatrics Department, and Dr. Stacey Speer joins as a radiologist.

Soliman brings over 12 years of experience to the CKHA and has been recognized for his dedication to medical education in three Canadian universities.

Soliman earned his Medical Degree in Egypt before furthering his education at the University of Calgary and University of Toronto.

Prior to his family’s recent move to Southwestern Ontario, he practiced in both Toronto and in the province of New Brunswick. Soliman is now accepting patient referrals and is located at the Chatham-Kent Child and Adolescent Clinic. His office can be reached at 519-358-1880.

“I have felt very welcomed and supported by my colleagues here at CKHA,” said Soliman. “I have four children so Chatham-Kent was appealing to me to raise my family as well as have access to the bigger centres nearby.”

Renaud is no stranger to Chatham-Kent.

Renaud first came to CKHA to begin his one-year residency in July 2020 as part of Western University’s Canadian College of Family Physicians Emergency Medicine Program. Renaud successfully completed his residency in June 2021 and will now be working alongside the team in Emergency Medicine.

Meanwhile, Speer is new to Chatham-Kent but said she feels right at home.

“Coming from a small rural community, it feels wonderful to move to an area that reminds me so much of my roots," said Speer. "I’m looking forward to making a home here in Chatham-Kent and getting to know my new neighbours."

Speer grew up just outside of Thunder Bay. She began her medical training in nursing at Confederation College and Lakehead University then proceeded to get her Masters of Nursing at Athabasca and then her Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing from Western University.

In 2013, Speer received her Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University before completing her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Western University and working at London X-Ray Associates.

“We are pleased to welcome Doctors Renaud, Soliman and Speer to our clinical team and the community of Chatham-Kent,” said CKHA Chief of Staff Dr. Pervez Faruqi. “Their contributions to our programs and services will be a great addition to CKHA and help us further our commitment to delivering Patient and Family Centred Care.”
