Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down some antique shotguns that were reported stolen during a daytime break-in south of Chatham.
Police said they received a call at around 2 p.m. Wednesday about a break-in at an address on Tenth Line and learned that sometime between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. that same day, someone broke into a residence on that road and stole several items including three chainsaws, a high-powered crossbow, and three antique shotguns.
Officers said whoever was responsible for the break-in also stole the victim's 2022 Ford F-150.
Police said they were able to track down the stolen pickup truck a short distance away, adding that it was unoccupied by the time they found it.
The stolen items are still missing, though, and have a combined estimated value of around $13,000.
