Employers from across Chatham-Kent have a chance this month to let the municipality know how business is going.
The Chatham-Kent Workforce Planning Board (CKWPB) has once again launched its EmployerOne survey. It's open to all local businesses, no matter the size of the sector.
"This survey is going to allow employers to share their workforce experiences from January this year to current day," said Jason Stubitz, Coordinator, Workforce Planning and Research for Chatham-Kent. "Really the goal is to learn about the employer's labour market experiences in 2022, and to gain an idea of what things look like for 2023."
Stubitz said many local employers have said they're struggling to hire right now.
"The data from the survey is going to provide some more detail on that, and from there, we'll be able to look at ways to address those issues, and strengthen our local workforce."
The CKWPB will release the results of the survey in March of 2023 at a community forum.
"Once we get the responses back by the end of this month, we'll spend the next month or so going through the data," said Stubitz. "And then doing everything we can to share that information with the community and employers."
The survey findings provide the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, CKWPB, and local stakeholders insight into the local workforce and guide collective action to address challenges and embrace opportunities.
"The CKWPB is committed to ongoing research to enhance local labour market planning in the Chatham-Kent region," said Chatham-Kent Workforce Planning Board Director Mark Benoit. "It's important to hear from employers so we have reliable information that will help guide and develop our workforce to meet local needs."
The survey will be open until the end of November and will take about 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the business. Stubitz adds that any employers that have questions about the survey can reach out online at www.ckworkforcedev.com.
