Dr. David Colby to continue role as MOH in 2023

The acting medical officer of health for Chatham-Kent isn't stepping away from the position anytime soon.

Dr. David Colby was planning to retire on December 31, but the Chatham-Kent Board of Health passed a motion Wednesday to appoint him to the acting role, starting January 1.

He had announced his retirement at the end of March.

Dr. Mario Kangeswaren was named the new medical officer of health in July but stepped down from the role in October. Colby stepped back into the role after Kangeswaren resigned.

According to a previous report, Kangeswaren resigned to "pursue other opportunities." He had just been selected for the position in July and took over as Chatham-Kent's Acting MOH at the end of August.

While the search still continues for a new MOH in Chatham-Kent, Dr. David Colby, who had been the MOH for Chatham-Kent for almost 20 years, will continue to fill the role.

More to come.
