CK police welcome record number of recruits
Chatham-Kent police are celebrating a major milestone in their recruitment efforts.
The CK Police Service is welcoming its largest-ever class of recruits from the Ontario Police College.
The nine officers successfully completed 13 weeks of intense training and they will now spend the next couple of weeks with the training unit.
They are set to be officially sworn in next month and will join their coaches on the road.
Eight of the nine officers who are joining the force are pictured below along with some senior members of the CK Police Service

Man, woman arrested after snoozing in hotel parking lot
Two Chatham residents in their 30s are facing several charges after police allegedly found them sleeping in a vehicle that was parked in a hotel parking lot on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
Police said they were called to the parking lot just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday and learned that the woman who was in the vehicle had been previously released with several conditions, including one that ordered her to stay away from a man who was also sleeping in the car.
Officers said the man in the vehicle had also previously been released with several conditions, including bans on carrying weapons, drugs, or drug-related equipment.
Police said the man and the woman were both arrested -- adding that the man allegedly struggled with officers and was "uncooperative and confrontational" before they took him into custody.
Investigators said they allegedly found some suspected cocaine and a box of ammunition in the man's possession, too.
Both of the accused were taken to police headquarters, charged, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Suspicious man arrested and turned over to Essex OPP
Chatham-Kent police were able to do a favour for their colleagues at the Essex County OPP when they arrested a 42-year-old Wallaceburg man in Chatham on Thursday.
CK police officers picked the man up at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday while they were responding to some suspicious activity on Grand Avenue West.
At that time, police also learned that the man was wanted by Essex County OPP, so they arrested him and turned him over to that police service.

Chatham man charged with trespassing
A 51-year-old Chatham man is in trouble with the law after he allegedly showed up at a building he had been trespassed from a day earlier.
Police said they were called to the property on Wellington Street East in Chatham in just after 10 p.m. Thursday and found the man there.
The man then allegedly refused to identify himself, so he was arrested.
Officers said once the man's identity was confirmed, he was released with a Provincial Offences Notice. He was charged with trespassing.
