Woman arrested for weapons and drug offences after disturbance

A 32-year-old woman is facing a pair of charges after she allegedly pulled out a weapon during an argument at a residence in Chatham.

Police said they were called in to investigate the alleged incident Thursday morning on Tweedsmuir Avenue.

Officers said the woman left before they arrived, but they were able to find her a short distance away in a vehicle.

When police searched the woman, they allegedly found some suspected fentanyl and drug-related equipment, but they didn't find a weapon.

The woman was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

She was later released with a future court date.

Chatham man arrested after allegedly assaulting his brother

A 42-year-old man is facing an assault charge after a family dispute allegedly took a violent turn in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the residence Thursday afternoon, adding that it's alleged the man assaulted his brother.

The Chatham man was arrested, charged, and later released pending a future court date.

Man arrested for impaired driving

A 41-year-old Dresden man is facing a drunk driving charge after police were called to investigate a report of someone drinking alcohol in a vehicle that was parked outside of a business in Dresden.

Police said the report they got at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday indicated that the man was in the driver's seat as well.

Officers found the man and suspected that he was in "care and control" of his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, so he was given a roadside test, which he allegedly failed.

He was taken back to police headquarters for more breath tests and was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
