Threshing Festival weekend in Thamesville

A popular June event takes over the town of Thamesville this weekend.

The 48th annual Thamesville Threshing Festival kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday in Ferguson Park with the midway, food trucks and vendors. Then the famous parade begins at 6:30.

"We're known for our parade, it's usually an hour, hour and a half long parade," said Festival Chair Ed Pumfrey. "All kinds of unique entries every year, and it's open to anybody. Whatever you'd like to put in there, come out a 6:30. You've got to be there at 5 for the lineup, but 6:30 is when the parade starts."

The Chasers will also be on the stage in the Pavilion on Friday night.

Pumfrey said Saturday will feature a lot of family-friendly events, including the baby show and the CK Play Rangers.

"We've got Sloans Christmas Village, they're bringing out their train. We have Paul Graham, he's going to also have a tram that he's going to be taking people around with. Our frog jumping contest, just a whole bunch of little, smaller events going on. Our Indigenous Dancers are going to be performing, that went over really, really well last year, very supportive of that," he said.

The events continue into Saturday evening.

"We've got out Junior Farmer Olympics and our Senior Farmer Olympics, which is just a great way to embrace our farming heritage," said Pumfrey. "Walkin' 47 will be to be performing in the Pavilion, and then our fireworks are going to be bigger and better than ever, I can guarantee you that."

A full schedule of events can be found on the Thamesville Threshing Festival's Facebook page.
