Police looking for suspect accused of stealing and using credit, debit cards

If you can identify the person pictured below, Chatham-Kent police would like to hear from you.

Police said they are looking to identify the individual in connection with a fraud investigation reported almost a month ago, on June 30.

Officers said someone stole a wallet from a vehicle that was parked overnight in the driveway of a home on Orangewood Boulevard and that debit and credit cards taken from that wallet were used at several locations across Chatham-Kent.

Police said the individual pictured below is believed to be driving a white Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Police find two people sleeping in stolen vehicle parked in Tilbury

Two Windsor residents are facing charges after they were caught taking an afternoon nap in Tilbury inside a stolen vehicle.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the pair over the noon-hour on Wednesday after officers were advised by Windsor police the vehicle was reported stolen and tracked to an address on Mill Street East in Tilbury via GPS.

Police said an officer found the vehicle parked in a business parking lot and arrested both of the people who were inside.

Officers confirmed that the man was wanted on three warrants held by Windsor Police, Halton Regional Police, and OPP. The man and the woman were also bound by release conditions that required them to stay away from each other.

A 33-year-old Windsor man was charged with possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a release order. He was later handed over to Windsor police with conditions and a future court date.

A 34-year-old Windsor woman was charged with possession of stolen property and failing to comply with an undertaking and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

The vehicle was towed, and the owner was notified.

Merlin man who refused to leave park eventually arrested

A 44-year-old Merlin man spent some time in police custody on Wednesday after he allegedly refused to leave Memorial Park in Tilbury.

Police said they told him to leave the park "under the authority of the Trespass to Property Act" after some citizens voiced concerns and called police to respond to some suspicious activity.

Police said he was loitering in the pool area and parents were concerned.

Officers allege the man refused to leave, so they took him into custody, despite his efforts to resist arrest.

The man was charged with resisting arrest and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Tip about impaired driver nabs Chatham woman

Chatham-Kent police are giving credit to a tipster for helping them to track down an impaired driver in Chatham Wednesday evening.

Police said they got a tip about a possible impaired driver at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday with details of the vehicle and the driver.

Officers were able to track down a suspect vehicle on Queen Street and pulled it over.

Police said the driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 36-year-old Chatham woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and was later released with a future court date.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
