Life is about to slow down in a hurry for two drivers who were caught going way too fast on the Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent over the weekend.
Provincial police working out of the Chatham Detachment reported stopping a 19-year-old from Delta who was recorded going more than 80 kilometres per hour over the posted limit on the westbound Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent just before 9 p.m. Friday.
That driver was charged with stunt driving, so their vehicle was set to be taken away for 14 days and their driver's license will be suspended for 30 days.
A second driver was also recorded driving more than 80 km/h over the speed limit in Chatham-Kent over the weekend -- this time on Bear Line Road.
OPP said they stopped the passenger vehicle at 10:18 p.m. Saturday and charged a 27-year-old Belle River resident with stunt driving there.
Those weren't the only speeders police nabbed in southwestern Ontario over the weekend, either.
OPP also reported stopping a 27-year-old Bothwell resident at around 10:45 p.m. Friday for going more than 75 km/h over the posted limit on the westbound Highway 401 in Dutton-Dunwich. That driver was also charged with stunt driving.
And a 20-year-old Windsor resident was pulled from the road after reportedly going more than 55 km/h over the limit on Countryview Line shortly before 8 p.m. Friday. That driver was charged with stunt driving and driving without a valid license.
OPP said in addition to all of those speeders, they stopped four more suspended drivers on Saturday and Sunday. Three of them were nabbed after police followed up on notifications from their Automated Licence Plate Recognition system.
