Teens arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent police arrested two teens in connection to an assault investigation.

According to police, at 10:43 p.m. Thursday two male youths were in the vicinity of another boy's home on Park Avenue West when they attacked him.

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were taken to police headquarters and charged with assault.

They were released with conditions and a court date in September.

Disturbance leads to drug charges

A 30-year-old woman is facing drug charges after being removed from a business in Chatham.

Police were called to a business on Grand Avenue East, at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, for reports that an unwanted woman was on the premises.

When officers arrived, it was confirmed that the woman was breaching a court condition by being at the business, police said.

During her arrest police said they found a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine on the woman.

She now faces charges of failing to comply with an undertaking and possessing a controlled substance.

Violations of court orders results in multiple arrests

Chatham-Kent police responded to a home in Dresden on Thursday for a report of an unwanted person on the premises.

Police arrived at the North Street address at 7:18 a.m. and found that the unwanted man had already left.

Residents of the home reported that the man was attempting to retrieve property and a rent refund. It was also confirmed that the man was already wanted for failing to comply with release orders, police said.

A 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man was found a short distance away and arrested.

A 21-year-old Chatham man was arrested after changing addresses without informing police.

According to police, an officer attempted to issue a trespass notice at his home, in relation to a theft investigation from Wednesday, and discovered that the man no longer lived there.

Police found that the man was under a release order, which mandated him to inform the Chatham-Kent Police Service of any change in his address.

The 21-year-old was located living with a family member in Chatham.

He was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

Automated license plate reader helps police recover stolen plate

A driver is facing charges after getting caught driving with a stolen license plate in Chatham.

On August 1, an officer observed a vehicle on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The officer received an alert that the vehicle's front license plate was linked to a stolen vehicle.

Police said the driver, who also admitted to not having a driver's license, was stopped and arrested.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was also prohibited from driving due to impaired driving and unpaid fines.

The driver was charged with possession of stolen property and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.
