Police make second arrest in assault case
Chatham-Kent police have rounded up a second suspect in an assault case that goes back to the middle of June.
Police reported last week that they were called to a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham on June 18 for an assault investigation involving two men.
Investigators said after reviewing some video evidence and given the severity of the injuries that were sustained, police were looking to arrest both of the men who were involved.
A 21-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to police in connection with the case on August 2 and he was charged with assault.
The second suspect -- a 28-year-old Chatham man -- was arrested just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and was charged with assault causing bodily harm.
Both of the men who were arrested in the case were released with conditions pending future court dates.

Police said they found the man at around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday while they were following up on a series of 9-1-1 calls that were traced to Erie Street in Merlin.
Officers said when they searched the area, they found the man sitting in a bush next to a shed in the backyard of the residence, adding that the man refused to leave the bush when police told him to come out and was also "uncooperative with the officers."

Delinquent drivers stopped during a pair of traffic safety blitzes
Chatham-Kent police are once again reminding drivers to obey the rules of the road -- and they handed out some tickets on Wednesday to drive the message home.
Police said members of the CKPS Traffic Unit were specifically targeting Chatham Street in Harwich Township and Talbot Trail in Tilbury East Township.
Officers ended up issuing 10 Provincial Offences Notices for a range of speeding and other Highway Traffic Act violations.
Along with that traffic safety blitz, police are reminding drivers to prioritize road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
