Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again turned himself in after being charged with a crime.
Trump, one of 19 co-defendants charged for their role in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia, surrendered at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta Thursday evening.
ABC News reported that among the 13 charges that Trump faces are solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, committing false statements and writings, conspiracy to file false documents, filing false documents, and conspiracy to commit to impersonating a public officer.
The counts stem from efforts by Trump and his supporters to cajole election officials in Georgia to throw out the legitimate election results, which had Joe Biden winning the state by less than 18,000 votes.
The indictment accused Trump of falsely declaring himself the winner in Georgia the day after the election. In a telephone call that was recorded and given to news organizations, Trump is heard telling Georgia's secretary of state to "find" enough votes to make him the winner in the Peach State.
Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
He is the only former U.S. president to be charged with a crime. He is already facing criminal charges in three federal cases. First, he was charged with 33 counts of falsifying documents in New York State, where prosecutors accused Trump of covering up payouts made to an adult film star.
Trump is also charged with mishandling classified documents and his connection to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., when supporters stormed the building in an attempt to intimidate Congress into certifying Trump as the election winner.
