Wallaceburg man ticketed after report of fighting, screaming

An 18-year-old man spent some time sobering up in police custody overnight after Chatham-Kent police were called to a disturbance on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Police said they got a tip at around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday that there were approximately seven people fighting and screaming on Wallace St. and that there was possibly a weapon involved.

When officers arrived, they didn't find a disturbance, but they did find an 18-year-old Wallaceburg man who was allegedly "severely intoxicated" and "belligerent."

Police said the man refused to leave when they told him to, so he was taken back to police headquarters where he was given a ticket for trespassing and he was held there until he sobered up.
