Man wanted for paying with fake money

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public's help to identify the man pictured below in connection with a fraud investigation in Chatham.

Police said he showed up at the Esso Gas Station on Bloomfield Road in Chatham on Saturday, August 26 and paid for a number of items using a counterfeit $100 Canadian bill.

Officers said he made a total of four separate transactions at the same location, all using a counterfeit $100 Canadian bill.

ATV operator charged with impaired driving after a hitting school bus

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing a pair of impaired driving-related charges after he allegedly crashed a quad into a school bus.

The crash took place well outside of school hours, though.

Officers were called to the scene on Nelson Street shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday and believed the man operating the four-wheeler was under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests and was later charged with one count each of impaired operation and having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Police said there were only two occupants on the bus and they didn't report any injuries.

There was only minor damage to the bus as a result of the crash.

Wallaceburg man arrested for allegedly contacting harassment victim

A 38-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges after he allegedly contacted a victim multiple times after he was banned from communicating with them.

Police said the man allegedly contacted the victim multiple times by way of email and voicemails despite being released from custody earlier this year with a condition that required him to stop communicating with the victim.

Officers said they were notified of the breach of that condition at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Blenheim man arrested for sexual assault was also wanted in London

A 33-year-old Blenheim man who was wanted by police London has been arrested by Chatham-Kent police.

CK police said they arrested the man in connection with a sexual assault investigation that started on August 26 and covered some alleged offences that took place between January 2023 and August 2023.

Police said the man was arrested for one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.

Their investigation also uncovered that the man was wanted by London police for "similar related offences."

The man was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
