Police find 19 cell phones, illegal drugs while searching assault suspect
Two Chatham residents in their 30s are facing charges after they allegedly assaulted each other during an argument.
Chatham-Kent police said they made the arrests after they were called to a residence in Chatham at around 2:25 p.m. on Thanksgiving Monday.
Police said they searched both of the accused persons and allegedly found a "large quantity" of illegal drugs on the woman along with some cash.
Officers said their search also turned up some drug-related equipment, 19 cell phones, and a taser.
A 32-year-old Chatham woman was charged with several offences including six counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, nine counts of failing to comply with a release order, and one count of possession of a banned weapon.
She was taken into custody and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
A 35-year-old Chatham man at the residence was arrested, charged with assault, and released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham man arrested for impaired driving
A 45-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after police pulled over a vehicle on Pioneer Line in Chatham Monday night.
Police said an officer on general patrol initiated the traffic stop shortly after 7 p.m. Monday and believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests.
The man was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before he was released with conditions and a future court date.
