Career Fair and Job Expo coming to Chatham

Local residents who are on the hunt for a new job or career are in luck.

The Learning, Earning and LivingCK Career Expo and Job Fair will take place at the John D. Bradley Centre in Chatham on Wednesday, October 18.

"We are inviting all local and external job seekers and students who are looking to know what's going on in Chatham-Kent as far as career prospects are, and to get a better idea, to come and join us," said Victoria Bodnar, Manager of Community Attraction and Promotion. "There will be a huge expo hall filled with some hands-on experiences, as well as a more traditional job fair for people to look forward to."

The event runs from 3 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Bodnar said there will be over 50 employers on site who are hiring in all different sectors.

"Career opportunities in health care, in manufacturing, skilled trades and construction, finance, learn more about legal professions. It's across the board. We know Chatham-Kent employers are looking for talent and that need is growing. We're expecting many businesses to grow over the coming years, and that talent needs to grow as well across sectors. So a lot of great opportunity for career pathways for jobs to apply for today, and for things to look out for into the future as well," she said.

Come prepared and bring a resume, but Bodnar adds that if you need help with your resume, they will have some experts there to help with that.

"If you want to just come and check some things out and meet an employer and get your name out there, then you're welcome to. But come prepared, bring your resume and come ready to really put your best foot forward, and we're here to really support you in that," she said.
