Three arrests after drug bust in Blenheim

Three Blenheim residents are facing charges after police searched homes on Regent Street and Chatham Street in Blenheim as part of a drug investigation.

Chatham-Kent police said members of the CKPS Intelligence Unit and the Critical Incident Response team executed the search warrants at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and seized approximately $4,500 worth of drugs.

Officers also reported seizing some drug-related equipment and a large amount of Canadian cash along with some stolen property and some ammunition.

Three Blenheim men aged 27, 34, and 48 were all arrested in connection with the investigation.

All three of them are facing drug trafficking and weapons-related charges.

They were all taken to police headquarters, but two of them were later released with conditions and a future court date.

The third person was released to the OPP with the same conditions and a future court date.

Woman accused of lighting shrubs on fire outside of Walmart

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg woman who was allegedly kicked out of Walmart in Wallaceburg for stealing is in even more trouble after she allegedly lit some shrubs on fire outside of the store.

CK police said they were called to the scene on McNaughton Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

When police arrived, they found that the woman was intoxicated to the point where she couldn't care for herself.

She was taken into police custody and was held there until she sobered up.

The woman was also charged with theft, possession of stolen property, arson, and public intoxication.

She was later released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

Man wanted for skipping court arrested in Chatham

A 43-year-old Chatham-Kent man already accused of assault and weapons offences has added skipping court to his growing list of charges.

Police said the man allegedly failed to show up for his scheduled court appearance on October 16, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Officers caught up with him on Wellington Street West in Chatham shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday and arrested him after confirming he was wanted.

The man is how facing the following charges: assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failing to comply with a probation order, assault with intent to resist arrest, mischief, and two counts of failing to attend court.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for assault six months later

The law has caught up to a 29-year-old Chatham man accused of harassing and assaulting a local woman.

CK police said their investigation started on May 14 when they were called to a Chatham address for a disturbance.

Officers said their investigation showed an argument between a man and a woman there had escalated to the point where it got physical.

Police said the man also allegedly blocked the woman from leaving and kept contacting her and showing up at her home against her will.

Police got a warrant for his arrest, but they couldn't find him until an officer on general patrol stopped him on Fourth Street near King Street in Chatham shortly after 6 a.m. Friday.

The man was arrested and charged with assault, forcible confinement, and criminal harassment. He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Two arrests after domestic argument turns violent

A 48-year-old Chatham Township man and a 54-year-old Chatham Township woman are both facing an assault charge after police were called to investigate a disturbance on Longwoods Road Thursday morning.

Police said they were called to the area at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday and learned that a verbal argument between the man and the woman had escalated to a physical fight.

Both of the people involved were arrested, charged, and taken to police headquarters.

They were both later released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
