The Ford government is expected to announce big changes to how alcohol sales are conducted in Ontario this Thursday.
According to CBC, the plan includes allowing all supermarkets, convenience stores and gas stations to sell beer, ready-to-drink cocktails, coolers and wine starting in 2026.
The changes will reportedly be delayed until then due to the current Master Framework Agreement (MFA) between the province and the Beer Store, a contract which stipulates only they can sell cases of 12 and 24.
The MFA is set to expire at the end of 2025.
Other reported changes include removing the existing cap of 450 on the number of supermarkets with retail licences.
