Chatham man arrested after sexual assaults in Mud Creek area
A 19-year-old Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after two people were sexually assaulted near Mud Creek in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said they got the first report on June 9 at 11:30 a.m. and learned that a man, who was believed to be a youth, had approached a female youth and touched her in an "inappropriate manner."
Officers got a similar call on Monday, June 17 at around 3:15 p.m., also in the Mud Creek area, for a report of a young man who had approached an adult woman and touched her inappropriately.
Police were able to identify a suspect and they arrested him just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
A 19-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman accused of breaking window with her head
A 31-year-old Chatham woman is facing a mischief charge after she used her head to break a glass window during an argument.
Chatham-Kent police said they were called to a local business on Fourth Street in Chatham shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday for a disturbance and learned that the woman had been arguing with a man when she knocked her head against the glass.
The man and the woman left the scene before police arrived, but officers found them a short distance away.
Police said she was under the influence of an "intoxicating substance" and was taken to police headquarters. She was charged with mischief and held in custody until she sobered up.

Police issue warning about construction fraud
Chatham-Kent police are issuing a warning to the public about door-to-door sales for construction or handyman services including asphalt and and paving or home repairs.
Police say you should be cautious of the following tactics:
- High-pressure sales where someone tries to get you to sign a contract or make a deposit right away
- Salespeople with a lack of credentials (permits, licenses, insurance, etc.)
- Lack of a written contract and a lack of references
- Unusually low prices and unsolicited offers
