Barnstormers still waiting to learn their first-ever playoff opponent

The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers still don't know where they will have to go for their first-ever Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) playoff game.

But they know it will be on the road.

The Barnstormers are sitting in fifth place in the IBL standings and that won't change, regardless of what happens in the remaining regular season games.

One final game will determine their first-round opponent as the fourth-place Guelph Royals visit the third-place London Majors.

The Royals have a chance to move ahead of the Majors in the standings if they beat London in the final game.

Either way, the Barnstormers will open the best-of-three first-round playoff series on the road as the lower-seeded team.

Chatham-Kent Barnstormers Owner and General Manager Dom Dinelle told CK Mornings with Chris, Allanah & Matt on 94.3 CKSY that the schedule is already set if the Barnstormers face London, but they still need to sort out a first-round schedule if they are facing Guelph.

He is also expecting a good turnout for the team's first-ever playoff run in its inaugural season.

"I'm pretty sure the fans from Chatham will travel because we've seen that all year," said Dom Dinelle. "We've seen that all year -- sometimes we have more Chatham fans than the locals [on the road]."

Dinelle said there are only 1,500 tickets available per night at Fergie Jenkins Field and there is only one playoff game guaranteed to be played in Chatham because it is a best-of-three series.

Single-game playoff tickets will be available online on Wednesday or at the Barnstormers' office at the Ewald Homes Field House (next to Fergie Jenkins Field) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday while they last.

All single-game tickets are non-reserved seats - first come, first served and there is no seat guarantee for general admission tickets.
