Wallaceburg weapons investigation leads police to two wanted persons

A weapons investigation in Wallaceburg Sunday morning didn't turn up any firearms, but Chatham-Kent police did manage to snag two people on their wanted list.

Police said they responded to a hotel on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man who was seen entering a room with a handgun.

Police said they searched the hotel room and didn't find any firearms, but they did find a 28-year-old Wallaceburg man and a 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman who were both wanted on outstanding warrants.

They were both later released with conditions and a future court date.

Motorcyclist sent to Windsor hospital after crash in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Tilbury Sunday morning that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital.

Police said emergency crews were called to Queens Line at Davidson Road in Tilbury shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Officers said the driver of the motorcycle was taken to a Windsor hospital with undisclosed injuries for medical treatment.

The CK police traffic unit is taking the lead on the investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Joel Rehill at joelr@chatham-kent.ca at 519-355-1092.

Dresden man booked for impaired driving after hydro pole hit-and-run

A 28-year-old Dresden man who allegedly drove into a hydro pole in Wallaceburg and then took off is facing impaired driving charges.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene of the crash on William Street at around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, adding that their investigation showed a pickup truck was driving on that street when it hit a hydro pole.

Officers said the driver didn't stop at the scene, but officers found the suspect vehicle on Duncan Street after they searched the area.

The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further breath tests.

He was later charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

The man's vehicle was impounded for 90 days and his driver's license was seized. He has been released from custody with a future court date in September.

Disturbance call on Wedgewood Avenue leads to arrest

A 47-year-old man is facing a trio of charges after Chatham-Kent police followed up on a disturbance call in Chatham Sunday night.

Officers said they responded to an address on Wedgewood Avenue and learned that a man who had shown up there had allegedly threatened an occupant when they asked the man to leave.

Police said they found the man, still inside the home, and arrested him.

Officers said they also learned that the man had previously been released on probation with a condition that required him to stop communicating with the occupant and to stay away from that specific address.

The accused was charged with one count each of failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to comply with a probation order, and uttering threats. He was later transported to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
