One ice cream thief arrested, second man still at large
A 64-year-old Chatham-Kent man has a rocky road ahead of him after he was allegedly caught stealing some frozen treats from a business in Wallaceburg overnight.
And Chatham-Kent police are still looking for his partner in cream.
CK police said an officer on general patrol started investigating after noticing two men on Lowe Avenue in Wallaceburg carrying several boxes of ice cream shortly after 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said the investigation showed that a local business had been broken into, which then prompted the officer to search the area for the two men.
A 64-year-old Chatham-Kent man was found a short distance away and arrested. He was charged with break and enter and was taken to police headquarters before he was released with conditions and a future court date.
Police are still looking for the second suspect.

Man accused of assault turns himself in
A 37-year-old man who was wanted for assaulting a woman during an argument in Chatham on Monday turned himself in early Tuesday morning.
Chatham-Kent police said they responded to a disturbance on Pearl Crescent on Monday and learned that a verbal argument between a man and a woman had escalated to the point where the man had assaulted the woman.
Police said the man left before officers showed up, but he turned himself in at CK police headquarters at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The accused was taken into custody pending a bail hearing and was charged with two counts of assault and one count of with assault with a weapon.

Wanted woman shows up at the courthouse
A 26-year-old woman who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation in Chatham that started a month ago has been arrested.
CK police said the Chatham woman was arrested just after 4 p.m. Monday after she showed up at the Ontario Court of Justice.
An officer was able to confirm that she was wanted on an outstanding warrant from a theft investigation that went back to July 27, 2024.
The woman was charged with failing to comply with a release order and theft and she was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man turns up on Murray Street in Wallaceburg
A 49-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted for skipping court in connection with a mischief investigation has been given a new appointment with a judge.
Officers said they arrested the man on Murray Street in Wallaceburg shortly after 8 p.m. Monday and confirmed he was wanted by police.
The man was taken to police headquarters and then later released with conditions and a future court date.

Impaired driver charged in 401 collision
Elgin County OPP charged a Ridgetown man with operation while impaired, after a single-vehicle collision along the 401 on Monday afternoon.
Around 3:15 p.m., police responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle pulling a trailer on the westbound lanes near the 123-km marker in Chatham-Kent.
Two people were in the vehicle but no serious injuries were reported.
Officers said they observed signs of impairment from the driver and administered an ASD test, which registered a fail.
The 61-year-old man was taken to the Chatham detachment for further testing before being charged.
The accused was also handed a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. He will appear in Chatham court next month.
