No Grounds for Charges

Chatham-Kent police are reporting there are no grounds for charges to be laid or any risk to the public after investigating individuals allegedly photographing children without permission.

Police said officers went to Kingston Park on Saturday after reports children were being photographed and spoke with all of the parties involved and concluded that charges won't be laid nor should the public have any concerns.

"We want to assure the public that we responded to this incident promptly and that the safety of our community, especially our youth, is a top priority," said CK police. "We appreciate the community’s continued attention to safety in Chatham-Kent."

Theft Arrests

Chatham-Kent police have laid several charges against a trio from Chatham-Kent and Windsor.

Police alleged two suspects left a store on St. Clair Street in Chatham on Saturday morning with a large quantity of items without paying for them.

According to police, a 56-year-old man from Windsor was arrested in the parking lot while a 44-year-old woman from Windsor ran away, but was arrested shortly afterwards.

A 31-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent, who was allegedly found in possession of the stolen items, was also arrested later, police said.

They all face charges of theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and obstructing a peace officer.

More Theft Arrests

Two Chatham women have been charged following allegations they stole several items from a store in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the 35 and 51-year-olds took items from the store on St. Clair Street on Friday evening.

Police alleged the suspects paid for a few items at the self-checkout and hid the other items.

CK police said the 35-year-old female was arrested on the spot by store security while the 51-year-old woman ran away while getting rid of some items. She was arrested a short time later.

The women are facing charges of theft and possession of property obtained by crime.

They were also given tickets for trespassing for engaging in prohibited activity at the store.

Threat Arrest

Allegations of uttering threats have led to charges against a 31-year-old man from Chatham after a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Police said officers responded to a complaint on Sunday morning at a Chatham home that an argument between two male family members escalated into threats and physical contact.

The suspect was released with conditions not to have contact with the other man.

Chatham-Kent police need your help identifying a male suspect (photo below).

Police said he was last seen April 29, 2025 at several stores in Chatham, including Giant Tiger, Sportchek, Canadian Tire, and Discount Cannabis.
