Two men face charges following convenience store theft
Chatham-Kent police have charged two men following a theft at a Chatham convenience store.
Officers were called to the store on Grand Avenue West at about 8:17 p.m. on Monday. Police said two suspects were seen leaving the business with items they hadn't paid for.
Less than 10 minutes later, police found the two men from Chatham-Kent, aged 19 and 28.
According to police officials, when officers approached them, the 19-year-old took off running. He was arrested after a brief foot chase and faces multiple charges, including theft, possession of stolen property, and obstruction of police.
The 28-year-old was arrested without incident.
Police were able to recover the stolen items.

Leamington man faces impaired driving charges
A 51-year-old Leamington man is facing charges after a concerned citizen reported an erratic driver in Tilbury.
CK police said they responded to the complaint just after midnight on Saturday.
The witness told police that they saw a motorist speeding and driving erratically before pulling over and turning off the pickup truck's lights.
Officers said they found the vehicle a short time later on the side of the road. Police determined that the driver was showing signs of being intoxicated and administered breath tests, which the man failed.
The driver was taken to police headquarters and released with a June 16 court date.

CK police make multiple warrant arrests
CK police arrested a 44-year-old man on Friday after learning he was wanted on a warrant for missing a court date.
Police said the Wallaceburg man was convicted on January 30 for charges including mischief, theft, and possession of stolen property. He was sentenced to one day in custody and 12 months of probation.
According to police, the man then missed court dates in March and April, prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday, police found the man and arrested him.

A 22-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to police just before 3 a.m. on Sunday.
He was wanted for missing multiple court dates between September 2, 2024 and May 26, 2025.
The man was initially wanted for an incident on June 30, 2024. At the time, investigators were called to a dispute between neighbours that saw two vehicles damaged by a baseball bat.
