Man wanted in CK turns up in Waterloo

A man who was wanted by Chatham-Kent police for skipping court almost three years ago turned up about two hours away.

CK police said the man was initially arrested after a disturbance at a local motel on August 5, 2021 where he allegedly assaulted a victim by grabbing her, punching her, and pulling her hair.

Police said motel staff had stepped in to intervene and held the man until officers arrived.

The man also allegedly damaged the holding cell he was taken to, leading to an additional charge of mischief against him.

He was later released with a future court date, but failed to show up for a scheduled appearance on August 31, 2022.

Waterloo Regional police notified CK police on Wednesday that they had arrested the man.

He was then transferred to CK police custody and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
