One arrested, one still at large after air pump theft
One person has been arrested and police are still looking for a second suspect after an air pump was stolen from a gas station in Wallaceburg earlier this month.
Chatham-Kent police said two suspects were identified after officers reviewed some surveillance footage of the theft, which took place at around 3:30 a.m. on July 9.
Officers said one of the individuals was acting as a lookout while the other was seen removing the air pump and that both of the suspects were later seen leaving the area on bicycles.
Police said a red minivan showed up a couple of hours later and the same two individuals were seen putting the stolen air pump into the back of the vehicle before they got into the vehicle themselves and took off.
Arrest warrants were issued for both of the suspects and police arrested one of them during a person stop at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A 46-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of property obtained by crime before he was released with a future court date.
Police are still looking for a 45-year-old man from Walpole Island in connection with the case.
