Another popular event takes place in Dresden this weekend.
The Summer Night Market is set for Saturday, July 26 in downtown Dresden.
"We celebrate local small businesses, artists, creators, musicians, and it all starts on Saturday at 4 p.m. and it goes right to 11 p.m., but it's a really great time," said organizer Morena McDonald. "If you haven't been, we really recommend coming out and visiting us on Saturday."
The first Dresden Summer Night Market took place in 2018, and has grown from there.
"We'll have 100 vendors overall. That includes some community groups that we've offered to come free of charge to help raise awareness of what they do. But we also have a lot of food trucks, maybe the most we've ever had. We take over a whole town block, all with food trucks and food tents, so that's really exciting," said McDonald.
McDonald added that the popular pop-up bar is also back this summer.
"We have a lot of other cool things coming too, like our pop-up bar is returning, that's going to be downtown," said McDonald. "I know if you've been to the event before, you've been enjoying that feature in the park, but this time we're back downtown. We want to really have that really cool downtown Dresden vibe."
A number of streets will be closed, including parts of North, Brown, Main, and Queen Streets. Parking in Dresden this weekend can be a bit tricky with the Dresden Exhibition also on, but McDonald has some tips.
"There's lots of street parking around town. We have a website, it's www.night-market.ca, if you go to the plan your visit button, if you scroll down you'll see a list of parking suggestions. There's parking lots all over town. You may have to walk a little bit, but if you plan ahead, maybe carpool with your friends, I'm sure you'll be able to find a decently close parking spot," said Morena.
The forecast for Saturday is looking pretty warm, but attendees are encouraged to bring along a reusable water bottle because there will be a free water refill station at town hall.
The Dresden Summer Night Market is free, but any proceeds go to support the Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre.
