Sentencing of Tilbury killer rescheduled for an agonizing 4th time

The family of a Tilbury man who was murdered in 2024 says they are exhausted and beyond frustrated and disappointed with the justice system.

David Trealout's sentencing was adjourned for a fourth time on Thursday because Trealout's defence lawyer is in the middle of a human trafficking trial in Toronto.

Trealout's next sentencing date has been scheduled for September 22 in Chatham court, where Justice Brian Dube told the court that "enough is enough" and ordered a conclusion to the matter.

Neudorf's sister, Justina Gilbert, told CK News Today that each postponement denies their grief, closure, and sends a message that the pain of victims' families can be pushed aside.

"Justice delayed is not just a legal inconvenience, it has a profound human cost to the loved ones," said Gilbert.

Gilbert added that the repeated delays come with no warning and are affecting their lives.

Neudorf's other sister, Agatha Wiebe, said the constant delays and let downs are like getting a wound repeatedly ripped open.

"I just describe it as a wound that can't heal. Every time these court hearings come up it's like the wound is being ripped open all over again," Weibe said.

Neudorf's daughter, Rachel Neudorf, said this experience has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for the entire family.

"Feelings keep coming back and to be let down like this, it's very much traumatic," Neudorf noted.

Trealout pleaded guilty in September 2025 to killing 55-year-old Henry Neudorf of Tilbury and was scheduled to be initially sentenced on second-degree murder charges on December 16, 2025. Sentencing dates on January 19 and March 16 2026 were also adjourned for various reasons.

Trealout was initially charged with first-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder.

Neudorf's body was discovered at the side of the road in Dover Township in January 2024.

A publication ban prevents more information from being made public since Trealout's mother, Kimberly Price, who is a co-accused, is still waiting for her trial.
