Nine people have been arrested and charged following a drug bust in Wallaceburg.
Chatham-Kent police reported that they searched a home on King Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday as part of an ongoing fentanyl trafficking investigation and seized nearly $12,000 worth of drugs.
Police said the six men and three women are all from Wallaceburg and are between 28 and 49 years of age.
According to police, they were all arrested at the home and charged with a variety of drug and weapons offences.
Several of the accused also face charges for alleged breaches of court-ordered release conditions, probation orders, or firearms prohibitions, police said.
Police said officers confiscated the following:
Approximately 51 grams of fentanyl
Approximately 27 grams of methamphetamine
Nine oxycodone tablets
Digital scales
Drug packaging materials
Canadian currency
Cellular telephones
Seven BB guns
A firearm receiver (part containing all the operating parts of the firing mechanism, including the trigger, the bolt, and hammer)
Three compound bows
Brass knuckles
Various types of ammunition
Chatham-Kent police noted they remain committed to disrupting the trafficking of illicit drugs within the community.
"The investigation highlights the continued risks posed by fentanyl and other dangerous substances and the significant harm they cause to individuals, families, and neighbourhoods throughout Chatham-Kent," said police.
