It's not the 1972 Summit Series, but it's Canada versus Russia Monday night at the WFCU Centre.
This series, unlike the original series, features junior level hockey players. The 1972 rivalry pitted NHL players against professionals from the Soviet Union.
Former NHL and Team Canada player Pat Stapleton he says it's a rivalry that's never died.
"It's still there today," he said during a visit to the Hockey Canada Skills Academy in Windsor. "Now the fellows that we competed against are more friendly. We visited them in their country."
Stapleton says he was one of seven Canadian players who visited Russian President Vladimir Putin's home.
So far, Canada leads the series 3-0 after wins in Kelowna, Kamloops and Owen Sound.
Windsor Spitfires Christiano DiGiacinto and Aaron Luchuk will play for team OHL in game four in Windsor. Logan Brown is being replaced by Luchuk due to an injury. Spits head coach Rocky Thompson, associate coach Trevor Letowski and assistant coach Jerrod Smith will lead the 20-player squad.
