Express Playoffs In Lakeshore

The Windsor Express will play the first two rounds of the playoffs at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore.

The team started researching venues over a year ago when it was announced the Memorial Cup would be hosted at the WFCU Centre in May.

Team president Dartis Willis says they are excited to bring the team out to the county.

"The one thing about basketball fans is they'll drive to meet that crave of loving basketball. So we expect that there may be a few fans that may not want to make the drive but there's much more that will make the drive," says Willis.

The venue holds around 2000 people. Tickets go on sale on April 22 and will be at a reduced cost. The team is also considering a shuttle to bring people from Windsor out to Lakeshore.

Playoffs start the first week of May. The team currently sits with a 18-16 record with 6 more games to play before the regular season ends. They are hoping to secure home court advantage in the first round.

"We'll have the opportunity to practice out here so it becomes our home. That's something that we don't have at the WFCU obviously we're only able to proactice there on games days. Now we'll have the opportunity, when the playoffs start, to put our floor down, we'll practice out here every day, e'll get used to it so that it will be a home away from home," says head coach Bill Jones.

If the team makes it past round 2 there will be an option to stay at the Atlas Tube Centre or return to the WFCU Centre.
