The Ontario Student Nutrition Program is biting into healthy eating, and asking everyone to say yes to good food in schools.
The organization is asking parents and students to take the pledge online to say yes to good food, then for every pledge taken online the OSNP will donate a free breakfast or snack to a participating school.
Over 90 schools in London offer a breakfast, meal or snack nutrition program, with over 11,000 students taking part this school year.
Studies show those who are involved in the programs are more likely to try new fruits and vegetables.
"Just having it available in front of them and exposure and peer influence, seeing their teacher participating in the program, as little as two to three exposures can shift the choices students will take on," says Jillian McCallum with OSNP.
Students at Sir Arthur Carty School "crunched" into an Ontario-grown apple Friday morning to mark the harvest season and to celebrate the online pledge.
