Police Seek Sexual Assault Suspect

London police are looking for a suspect following a sexual assault on a running path in north London.

Police say a woman in her early 20's told police she was running along a path in a park area near Richmond St. at the Thames River Bridge around 4:40pm Monday when she noticed a man riding a bicycle and acting in a suspicious manner.  She says the suspect approached and grabbed her buttocks then fled the scene. She reported the incident to police shortly thereafter.

The suspect is described as a white male with a pale complexion, around 18-20 years old, tall, with a thin build and he was clean shaven. He had short dark brown hair above the ears and possibly some freckles. The suspect was wearing a purple and white t-shirt (possibly tie-dyed), shorts and running shoes. He was said to be riding a dark coloured bike.

No further incidents have been reported since the original call to police. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. The investigation is being handled by the London Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section.

Police are encouraging women to be vigilant of their surroundings when in parklands running or walking. Citizens are also reminded to exercise caution when using public walkways and bike paths and to report any suspicious activity to police.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
