A mid-winter thaw and forecasted rain have local conversation officials warning of higher water levels.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) says low lands along the Thames River may see some minor flooding over the next few days.
Warm temperatures coupled with rain Sunday melted much of the watershed's snow cover, creating high and fast running streams and rivers.
The UTRCA is now reminding the public to steer clear of all waterways as many streams and ditches will contain very cold water that may still be hidden by snow and unstable ice.
Officials expect the Thames to rise quickly through London on Monday and peak overnight.
"Tuesday’s weather forecast is calling for rain late in the day and continued warm temperatures, and we expect flows to rise again due to the additional melting snow and rainfall," says Mark Shifflett, UTRCA Senior Water Resources Engineer. "Flows will likely stay high until the end of the week."
