An abundance of recent rain has prompted a warning from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.
UTRCA officials say the local watershed has received 15-35mm of rain since Wednesday, with higher amounts falling north of Hwy. 7. The most recent rainfall, coupled with an already saturated ground, has water levels in the Thames River quickly rising.
Waters upstream from the city were expected to peak Thursday afternoon while levels in London will peak Friday and remain high over the weekend.
Londoners are being urged to steer clear of waterways for the time being as banks are slippery and the water very cold.
No major flooding is expected but traditional flood plain areas, including Harris Park, are likely to be inundated with water.
