Fanshawe College's "North Star" logo is looking a little off after a number of pieces disappeared from the college's campus gates.
Security at the London campus noticed over the past weekend that a number of large red letter Fs had been stolen off of logos, which are attached to concrete columns at the entrances to the college. Since then, a total of 12 Fs have been pried off and stolen from around the campus.
"What we're discovering is that they're not as secure as they should be, because obviously they're not that hard to get off," says college spokesperson Elaine Gamble.
Fanshawe's logo is made of four capital Fs arranged in a circle. Each letter is around 25 cm to 71 cm tall and weighs around 3 lbs.
Gamble says campus security is investigating the thefts, but they have been unable to come up with any suspects as of yet.
"We're just keeping our eyes open," she says. "It is a criminal act so there would be charges assessed later if we did catch anybody."
Gamble also says this isn't the first time someone has defaced the college logo and taken the some of the letters.
"When it happened last year, somebody proudly posed with [the letters] and put it on social media. So we got those back pretty quickly," she says. "We're looking into options as to how we can better secure these letters to the columns in the future."
