The governing body for nurses in Ontario is asking that the name of a long-term care home be revealed after 19 residents suffered abuse at the London facility.
The College of Nurses of Ontario says it will be asking a discipline committee to remove a publication ban on the name of the facility where Susan E. Muzylowsky worked as a registered practical nurse
Before the discipline committee on Monday, Muzylowsky admitted to abusing residents, some sexually, over an eight month period.
The publication ban surrounding the name of the facility was put in place to protect the abused residents’ personal information.
The college says it has decided that this decision was "overly cautious" and the residents' identities are sufficiently protected.
The college will prepare a written submission asking the panel to reconsider the publication ban on the facility's name. The London long-term care home in question has been notified of the decision and does not object, according the the college.
Muzylowsky was employed at the unnamed home between October 2008 and September 2014. She resigned in December 2015, and has now signed an undertaking to resign from practice permanently as part of the committee's ruling.
