The sky over Ontario lit up briefly early Friday morning as a fireball passed over a part of the province.
Researchers at Western University say the fireball was seen by people across southern Ontario, while NASA's Meteor Watch says it was also witnessed by people in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
The fireball was captured by six cameras from Western's Southern Ontario Meteor Network as it headed east from Tobermory to Algonquin Park. When it was first observed by the cameras over Tobermory, it was at a height of 90 km. When it reached Algonquin Park, it was at 45 km above the Earth's surface.
It's estimated the fireball was about the size of a basketball and, at its brightest, was almost as bright as a full moon.
