City buses are now being rerouted around Dundas St. in the downtown as construction on London's first flexible street gets underway.
The London Transit Commission began the detour on Monday, shifting all east and westbound buses off of Dundas St. between Ridout St. and Wellington St. The buses that normally rely on the busy road will now make stops on King St. and Queens Ave.
The detour is meant to accommodate the first phase of construction of Dundas Place, which is a four-block stretch that can be closed to vehicle traffic throughout the year for festivals and other special events.
Routes being detoured around the construction are the 2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 19, 20, 23, 102, and 106. According to the LTC's website, the detours will remain in effect until April 28.
As the construction progresses additional detours will be announced for north and southbound buses at Dundas St. and Richmond St.
