A London man already facing nearly 50 charges in relation to two carjackings, a shooting, and an explosive device, is now charged in a violent home invasion near Kilworth.
The latest charges against Haris Masic include armed robbery, forcible confinement, pointing a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited weapon, and breaking and entering. The charges stem from an afternoon home invasion on Elviage Dr. in Middlesex Centre March 20.
An adult resident of the home was tied up and threatened with a weapon. Various items were taken during the break-in. Middlesex OPP, with the help of London police, set up a containment area and arrested a man and woman in connection with the incident shortly after.
On Wednesday, London police announced officers found an explosive device in Masic's home on April 7, which resulted in two charges. The 33-year-old was arrested early last month in relation to the February 10 attempted carjacking of a couple in the Westmount Shopping Centre parking lot and the March 29 shooting of a man and assault of a woman in the parking lot of a nearby park. As a result, he was charged with more than 20 offences including assault causing bodily harm and robbery with a weapon.
The February incident saw a young man and woman approached by a man who tried to steal their vehicle. The woman reported seeing a muzzle flash of a weapon being fired. Over a month later, a man was shot twice and a woman assaulted with a weapon in the parking lot of a park in the area of Viscount Rd. and Wonderland Rd. Both the man and woman were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
More charges were laid against him in mid-April after police searched his home and vehicle and seized three stolen firearms, ammunition, stolen jewellery, and electronic devices.
Masic appeared in London court Wednesday where his case was put over until June 6. He remains in police custody.
