The City of Woodstock and the Woodstock Police Service are battling a cyber attack.
The network breach began on the city's system on Saturday, while a separate attack was detected on the police network on Monday. The city and its police force have both posted messages about the attacks on their websites.
"We can advise that resources have been implemented to address this, and appropriate risk management plans are being followed," the short note on the city's website states.
Meanwhile, police reassured the public that steps have been taken to minimize any potential impact, including taking certain systems offline.
"The Police Service is focusing resources to fully investigate and recover systems," police said.
Emergency services were not affected by the cyber attack and continue normal operations.
Both the city's and the police force's email systems are down. Those requiring immediate or urgent service are advised to call the police station or City Hall or visit either location in person.
More information about the attack is expected to be released Tuesday.
A similar ransomware attack hit the City of Stratford in April. City officials had to pay the equivalent of $75,000 in Bitcoin to get their data back from the hacker.
